The theme was "A bit of everything!" We
had our first male craftee wench and our first guide dog craftee wench
who made the most of their wonderful talents to bring out another
aspect of felting with alpaca. The results of everyone's work over
these two workshops, whether a neck warmer, bag, or felted frame, were opulent, opalescent and luscious. In response to the wonderful feedback that we were given, we have set up a new Guest Book page.
Theme: Dyeing to try it! Wow ... it was an absolutely colourlirous day using
our Luminous dyes turning plain fabric into designer materials. We used
salt, stencils, (using any found flattish object
such as leaves, twigs, feathers, sea shells or own shapes with
paper or cardboard), or just the Sun and microwave. It was all so easy
to use, and the results were soft to handle & permanent. Great as
embellishment for felting, embroidery, quilting, garments,
cushions, bedlinen or wall decoration. There was also time to try
Landscape dyes for wool and silk with steaming good results :) ...
everyone went home with a stash of colour in all its forms.
Theme: Nuno felting and dry felting: It was a lovely day full of felting creativity and laughter.
Everyone decided to make a bag with colourful handles and created unique designs where each one glowed with individuality.
Theme: Dyeing to try it! Another fabucolour day! using
our Luminous dyes turning plain fabric into designer materials with additions of
salt, stencils, (using any found flattish object
such as leaves, twigs, feathers, sea shells or own shapes with
paper or cardboard), or just the Sun and microwave. It was all so easy
to use, and the results are soft to handle & permanent.
Theme: Vintage
and recycled sparkly felt bag. Recycling at its best! Everyone incorporated treasures from our favorite op-shop
haunt to remake into a wonderful felted
design. We used anything that you can see and blow through into a uniquely designed bag.
Theme: Nuno felting...a fun and creative felting process that incorporates fabrics with your fibre.
This
was a wonderful day with such fantastic items created! It is a
constant delight how beautiful and individual each Craft-ee Wenche's
work is as it emerges from similar basic supplies.
Theme: Embellishing your felted creations with hand embroidery.
What
fun we had learning embroidery techniques with our teacher Jan. She
taught us some wonderful stitches to incorporate into our felting. I
was the only one who kept sticking the needle into my finger but what
is a bit of pain for such beautiful and creative results!
Theme: Dry
felting...This is how to make wonderful use of yarns onto your wet
felted creations.
This technique brought a creative satisfaction to us all as gorgeous fairies, wonderful mandalas, cute
cottages and free flowing designs came into being. We also learnt how
to make the wet felted alpaca fibre mat which forms the base of our
colourful creations...as one Craft-ee Wench said, "I really love the
idea that I can bring my own sense of identity to what I make...it has a
lot me in it!".
Theme: Winter Warm Felting Rapture... What a great day this was!
The choice of project gave everyone the opportunity to experience alpaca felting from a selection of techniques:
Nuno felting a scarf or bag, dry felting. So new skills increased the fun and enabled everyone to try out something new.
The
final beauty of each of the items was satisfying to see and we all were
able to appreciate each other's techniques and creativity.
Theme: Alpaca scarf with
merino colours and silk embellishments...we were a small but creative group today.
In
addition to some wonderful cobweb scarf creations, we had time to
experiment with a dry-felted flower project which we all matched with
our scarf colour scheme.
So
not only will our Craft-ee Wenches be warm but bright as well with a
coordinating flower ... add a brooch pin on the back and 'voila!' a
scarf pin as well.
Theme:
Felting around a resist...This
is how to make seamless creations. This technique is for creating boots
and hats, but our
workshop project was to create a beautiful bag using ...of all
things...a 3 litre milk bottle! What did it look like? Well, everytime
I take my sample bag out people stop and ask me, "I love your bag!
Where did you get it?" Once
you know the technique, your imagination can take flight.
Theme: Vintage and recycled sparkly felt bag.
We checked out our favorite op-shop haunt to hunt out a sparkly top to
remake into a wonderful felted design. Anything that you can see and
blow through provided the base for our uniquely designed bags. There
will be photos of our efforts on the website soon.
Theme: Christmas certainly came early!
Everyone made a luscious felted gift ...for themselves, or someone
special. It was a delight to hear one new Craft-ee Wench, an avowed
self-labeled non-crafty person, say how thrilled she was with her efforts and how much she had enjoyed the day.
